The traffic light control system plays a vital role in all cities. It is used in the major road junctions in the city. It is mostly used to monitor the vehicle flow through the many roads. Every city upgrades its traffic control system to provide high security to the people. The traffic light timer provides the control the traffic moves smoothly and securely. The traffic project makes uses of the LEC traffic lights for the function of indication. In the traffic control, the microcontroller is utilized for the signal auto changing at a particular period.

The traffic light aim is to recognize the safe vehicle movement on the roads. The synchronization of the different traffic lights at adjoining crossroads is a difficult problem. The conventional system does not handle several flows approaching the significant crossroads. The development of traffic light technology provides a safe traffic system. According to the PIC microcontroller, the manufacturer proposes the system, which evaluates the mass of the traffic on roads with the help of an IR sensor.

How the traffic light controller works

Three LED lights and seven-segment displays are used in traffic light control. The most critical component in the traffic control system is a microcontroller. It is used to initiate the traffic signal at the crossroads in the city. The circuit diagram is designed with the crystal oscillator for developing the frequency clock pulses in the traffic light system.

The traffic light controller can be increased to control the traffic signal system depending on the density of the traffic. It has the IR sensor modules that automatically turn off the traffic light if there is no vehicle on the road. The LED is powered with power supply, and seven-segment displays connect to the 8051 microcontroller pins with the anode configuration. When the microcontroller pins high, the LED display will switch ON and OFF automatically depends on the KEIL software's programming.

The manufacturers use the latest technology to develop traffic control that increases the efficiency of the device. At a specific time, Red light holds ON, and the other two light turns OFF automatically. After some time, the traffic light changeover from red to green color. This process keeps on as a cycle, and LEDs are displayed with the seven-segment LED display.
